Remembering the 125 class: 1996

Remembering the 125 class: 1996

motogp.com recalls the most memorable and exciting races of the last 20 years in the historical 125cc category.

motogp.com’s special section commemorating the retired 125cc class continues with the 1996 season, where riders from Japan continued to dominate the class. Five Japanese riders finished within the top eight positions in the final Championship standings, with Huruchika Aoki clinching the title, although this year, the first glimpse of the talent of a certain young Italian is seen.

Our review heads to Brno in the Czech Republic, where 17 year old Valentino Rossi took his first and only victory of his maiden season as a full time rider aboard an Aprilia.
