Remembering the 125 class: 2004

motogp.com recalls the most memorable and exciting races of the last 20 years in the historical 125cc category.

motogp.com’s special section commemorating the retired 125cc class continues with a look at the 2004 season. Andrea Dovizioso won the season opener at Welkom, South Africa and never let go of the Championship lead all season, eventually racking up a total of 293 points.

It is on this occasion that Dovizioso’s compatriot Marco Simoncelli finished the season in eleventh. However, at Jerez, Simoncelli earned his first pole position and his first victory aboard his number 58Aprilia.
