Dorna Sports CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta, confirmed the continuation of the Spanish circuit on the World Championship into next season.

Carmelo Ezpeleta has confirmed that Jerez will remain a part of the MotoGP™ World Championship in 2013 as one of the three Spanish circuits on the calendar. The Dorna Sports CEO made the announcement during a presentation for the Gran Premio bwin de España which took place in Madrid on Monday.

The Jerez and Andalusian authorities were both present in the Spanish capital for the official presentation ahead of this year's GP, which celebrates its 25th birthday when the second round of the 2012 season takes place from April 27th to 29th.

The Mayoress of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, expressed her “satisfaction” at the announcement by Dorna and the local authorities which guarantees the continuation of the Grand Prix into next year.

The Minister for Tourism, Commerce and Sport, Luciano Alonso, emphasised the importance of the Grand Prix - which annually attracts 250,000 visitors throughout the weekend - to the region's tourism industry. Alonso also highlighted the importance of the event on an international front, thanks in part to its selection as the Best Grand Prix of the Year (in 2009), and said that the Jerez event “is an example to follow with respect to the way in which it is managed”.
