Viñales heads final Moto3™ free practice

Viñales heads final Moto3™ free practice

In dry and sunny conditions it was Blusens Avintia´s Maverick Viñales who set the fastest time of the final Moto3™ free practice session at the Grande Prémio de Portugal Circuito Estoril ahead of Sandro Cortese.

Viñales goes into this afternoon´s qualifying as favourite, after setting the fastest time of the morning with a 1.47´492 . He was followed closely behind by Red Bull KTM Ajo´s Cortese, under two-tenths off the pace. Third place went to local favourite, Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider Miguel Oliveira, a further three tenths down.

In forth, Cortese´s teammate Danny Kent was going strong and finished ahead of RW Racing GP´s Luis Salom, who has been consistently fast all weekend. Sixth place went to Bankia Aspar Team´s Alberto Moncayo.

AirAsia-Sic-Ajo´s Zulfahmi Khairuddin occupies seventh, in front of championship leader Romano Fenati, who is still learning the track on-board his Team Italia FMI machine. Rounding out the top ten are Redox-Ongetta-Centro Seta´s Jakub Kornfeil and Technomag-CIP-TSR´s Alan Techer.

JHK T-Shirt Laglisse´s Adrian Martín crashed out of the session within the first ten minutes, yet fortunately walked away with just some bruising.

The Moto3™ class has some notable absentees, as IodaRacing Project´s Jonas Folger is still suffering from glandular fever and has been replaced this weekend by Italian rider Armando Pontone, while TT Motion Events Racing´s Niklas Ajo is replaced by Spain´s Joan Olive, after the Finn was banned following an altercation with a race official at the last round. Caretta Technology´s Jack Miller is replaced this weekend by Italian Manuel Tatasciore, after the Australian fractured his collarbone in Jerez. A late pull-out is Ambrogio Next Racing´s Simone Grotzkyj, who is suffering from a stomach upset.
