Kent sets pre-qualifying pace at Dutch TT

Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Danny Kent was the morning pace-setter at the Iveco TT Assen in the final free practice session ahead of Maverick Viñales and Alex Rins.

The sky was not as bright as the previous day yet the track stayed largely dry throughout the session, with only a few spits of rain threatening towards the end of the session. Yet no significant amount fell, meaning all the riders could make full use of the session until the end, with Kent posting the fastest time of 1.44’358.

Blusens Avintia’s Viñales was however only marginally behind with less than a tenth, with Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Alex Rins in tow. In fourth, San Carlo Gresini Moto3’s Niccolò Antonelli was having another terrific session, and will be hoping to take this form into qualifying this afternoon. Another rider who has been on the pace in all sessions is Bankia Aspar’s Alberto Moncayo, who finished in fifth.

Redox-Ongetta-Centro Seta’s Jakub Kornfeil posted the sixth fastest time on his FTR Honda machine, ahead of TT Motion Events Racing’s Niklas Ajo, who could not quite match his third place from yesterday. Kent’s rookie teammate Arthur Sissis went eighth quickest, ousting Rins’ teammate Miguel Oliveira into ninth. In tenth spot, yet still within a second off the top was Racing Team Germany’s Louis Rossi.

In this morning’s practice, Viñales and Oliveira were the only riders in the top ten who did not post a faster time than in yesterday’s afternoon session. Viñales still leads the overall timesheets, while Oliveira’s time puts him in fifth overall behind Antonelli.
