Kornfeil fastest in Sachsenring warm-up

Redox-Ongetta-Centro Seta’s Czech youngster Jakub Kornfeil went quickest in this morning’s warm-up for the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at the Sachsenring ahead of Danny Kent and Luis Salom.

The Moto3™ grid, which only had a wet session in qualifying yesterday, was once again greeted by dry conditions under sunny skies, where Kornfeil proved his dry form he has shown all weekend with the quickest lap of 1.28’550. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Kent was second quickest just over two tenths off the top, with RW Racing GP’s Salom pulling a fast lap out of the bag at the end to finish in third.

Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3’s Héctor Faubel, last year’s race winner, finished in fourth, ahead of AirAsia-SIC-Ajo’s Zulfahmi Khairuddin. Today’s pole-sitter, Kent’s teammate Sandro Cortese, was sixth, whilst Blusens Avintia’s Maverick Viñales ended the morning in ninth. Viñales, who qualified in 24th in the wet, will be hoping for a rapid charge up the field in this afternoon’s race to challenge Cortese at the front.
