Stoner on top in sun drenched Germany warm-up

The MotoGP™ contingent were greeted by some welcome sunshine at the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland warm-up this morning, with Repsol Honda Team’s Casey Stoner leading the pack ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo.

Despite suffering a crash with two minutes left in the session, the Australian set the quickest lap at the Sachsenring with a 1.22’558. It was in the long right-hander that Stoner lost the rear of his Honda, yet walked away unhurt. His teammate Dani Pedrosa was just over two hundredths behind him, with Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo in tow.

Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow made use of the warm and sunny conditions to cement his good form at the track finishing in fourth, ousting Lorenzo’s factory teammate Ben Spies into fifth. For many of the riders this was a good opportunity to evaluate the softer and harder rear compound for use in the race. The majority of rider used the 20 minutes session to test both, and will no doubt have gathered valuable info for the race this afternoon.
