Moto2™ class tyre supplier Dunlop has invited all chassis manufacturers to a test in early August to evaluate its tyre developments for the 2013 season and beyond.
Suter, FTR and Kalex have so far confirmed their attendance at the test, which will be held on the 3rd and 4th August at the Mireval circuit in southern France near Montpellier. Dunlop will make nine new specification rear, and four new specification front tyres available, with the aim being to evaluate their construction, profile and compounds, in order to find the best possible progression for next season.
NGM Mobile Forward Racing’s Alex de Angelis will be testing on the FTR, Technomag-CIP’s Dominique Aegerter on the Suter, whilst Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s Pol Espargaró has pulled out due to the injuries sustained in his Mugello crash. No Kalex replacement rider has yet been named.
Clinton Howe, Dunlop Motorsport Moto2 Coordinator
"In general, Dunlop continues to develop within this class as we believe it is the best class in the world with some of the best riders in the world. If we want to continue breaking lap records as we have been in 2011 & 2012 we have to continue giving the best tyres possible to achieve this.
"Since the beginning of Moto2 in 2010 Dunlop has continually improved the tyres for this class. We have always listened to rider feed back on tyres and made changes/improvements on the basis of these comments. Long may it continue."
