Maiden U.S. Grand Prix disappointment for Petrucci

Maiden U.S. Grand Prix disappointment for Petrucci

Came IodaRacing Project’s Danilo Petrucci endured a disappointing weekend in Laguna Seca at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, which saw him having to end his race early with severe front-end issues on his bike.

The first nine laps of the race saw the young Italian ride a competitive race with the other CRT machines of Colin Edwards and Iván Silva, however, after that, the front end of his machine was repeatedly folding away from under him. After a spate of near crashes in the ensuing ten laps, Petrucci pitted for safety reasons, as he felt a crash was imminent. This was hugely disappointing for the Ioda rider, who had stated before the weekend that racing at Laguna Seca with the famous corkscrew had been one of his dreams.

Danilo Petrucci

"I’m very disappointed. I didn’t have a good start but I quickly reached the group fighting for points. At the beginning of the race I had a good feeling with my TR003, but from the 10th lap the front of my bike began closing and I risked crashing too many times, so I decided to retire. I’m very sad because it’s horrible to leave a race for problem like that, and I’m also very sorry for my team that had worked very hard all weekend."
