Doubts remain after step forward for Edwards at Laguna Seca

Doubts remain after step forward for Edwards at Laguna Seca

After a complicated weekend at the Italian GP two weeks ago, Colin Edwards gets back in the points finishing the race in 13th position at the U.S. GP in Laguna Seca.

The Texan, riding for the NGM Mobile Forward Racing team, had been very vocal about the team’s struggles before the Laguna Seca race, sighting in particular the lack of progress made on the Suter-BMW bike. And despite his 13th place, and some definite improvement made on the machine, there is still a doubt remaining whether he will be on the same bike come Indianapolis. He had tested other CRT machines at Mugello before the U.S. round, although the team maintains that they will continue to try out the new Suter chassis they were given.

"Me, De Puniet and Espargaró were the only ones that have been here before. I expected the other CRT guys to have more trouble learning the track. We tried many different things, which made the bike seemed easier to ride. At the end of the day our electronics are still at a developing stage and it makes it hard because it cuts so much power. Right now we are at a point where it’s hard to make significant improvements. Lets hope that what we have found here benefits us at Indy in a few weeks."
