Schrötter joins Desguaces La Torre SAG Team for remainder of the season

German rider Marcel Schrötter will compete in the Moto2™ class for the remainder of the 2012 season on the Desguaces La Torre SAG Team Bimota HB4.

The Spanish team, managed by Edu Perales, will allow Schrötter to make his debut in the Moto2™ class and to compete in the last eight races of the season after the 19 year-old had a lacklustre 2012 campaign so far with Mahindra in Moto3™. The German, who had the opportunity to test the Bimota HB4 during the summer-break, is thus confirmed as the definitive substitute for Angel Rodriguez, after the team lined up Massimo Roccoli and Damian Cudlin in recent races after splitting with the Spanish rider.

Edu Perales (Desguaces La Torre SAG Team), team manager:

"After a complicated first half of the season for the team, I wanted to find stability and a reliable direction which will start a progression in our results, knowing that it won’t be easy. I'm happy to see Marcel joining the team, I’ve been following his career since he won the IDM and he demonstrated to be a fast, technical and determined rider, for sure he is going to help us to reach what we are looking for."

Marcel Schrötter (Desguaces La Torre SAG Team // Bimota):

"This situation is a new challenge that both me and the team needed. I had the opportunity to test the Bimota HB4 and I liked a lot his behavior, the results were quite good and that motivates me for the Indianapolis GP. I am aware that is going to be difficult but with effort and dedication I hope to be proud when comes the end of the season. I want to thank Edu this opportunity and hope we can help each other to reach our goals."
