Indianapolis warm-up sees Márquez on top

In the warm-up session for this afternoon’s Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix it was Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Marc Márquez who put in the fastest lap in front of Nico Terol and Pol Espargaró.

Márquez, who starts this afternoon’s race from second on the grid set the fastest time of the morning, was on good form this morning on board his Suter machine. The big news however was Mapfre Aspar Team Moto2’s Nico Terol making an appearance in the top three, with the current 125cc World Champion seemingly finding his stride in the intermediate class.

Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s Pol Espargaró, who had been the pace-man all weekend and sits on pole, made an uncharacteristic error that saw him drop his bike half way through the session. After running wide onto the damp grass, the Spaniard was too early on the gas, as he re-joined the tarmac, with the bike giving way under him. His time was however fast enough to put him third. He was uninjured in the incident. Technomag-CIP’s Dominique Aegerter came in fourth, while Marc VDS Racing Team’s Scott Redding finished the morning fifth fastest.
