CEV Buckler: Moulding world champions for 15 years

CEV Buckler: Moulding world champions for 15 years

Since starting in 1998 The CEV Buckler has become one of the major international championships in motorcycling, and now it celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Over the last 15 years, 15 CEV riders have gone on to become World Champion in the MotoGP classes, with a total of 21 titles, 19 second places and 19 third place finishes. Riders including Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Álvaro Bautista, Stefan Bradl, Marc Márquez, Julián Simón, Nico Terol and Toni Elías were moulded in this championship before making the jump to the world stage.

Throughout the years, over two thousand riders from more than thirty different nations have filled the grids in the 13 categories that have been part of the schedule at some point in its history. The CEV Buckler championship has continuously evolved at the same time as MotoGP™, introducing new categories such as Stock Extreme, or more recently Moto2™ and Moto3™.

More than 130 riders have seen their efforts rewarded with victory and more than 240 have been on the podium; but only 35 know how it feels to get the title of CEV Buckler Champion.

Various places have welcomed the CEV Buckler over these 15 years, some of which are no longer part of the calendar, such as the Jarama circuit or Cartagena, which have given way to more modern and safer tracks like Motorland Aragón, Jerez, Valencia, Albacete, Catalunya or the newly opened circuit of Navarra.

An organization that follows MotoGP™ parameters, held at safe circuits, with a federation that believes in the project and is broadcast on television, is the key to success for the championship’s 15 year run. It has become a world-leading racing series, which continues to train riders to the highest level of motorcycle racing. Take a look at the video on, giving you an insight into the CEV Buckler over the past 15 years from some of its biggest stars and key players.
