CEV Buckler: Arenas, Torres, Morales and Contreras on pole at Albacete

CEV Buckler: Arenas, Torres, Morales and Contreras on pole at Albacete

Celebrating its 22nd anniversary in the next few days, Albacete Circuit receives the sixth round of the CEV Buckler 2012 this weekend. However, the temperatures aren’t as high as the last visit and the track has been losing more and more grip as the day has progressed. This has meant that times obtained in the earlier sessions have decided the respective poles.

In Moto3™, Albert Arenas has got his first ever pole in the CEV Buckler. The Catalan rider took advantage of the first qualifying session to record the best time of the day. Juanfran Guevarra –one of the few riders to improve his times in the second session– is in second place ahead of Italian, Francesco Bagnaia. The current category leader, and Moto3™ rider in World Championship, Álex Márquez ended up in sixth position.

Jordi Torres worked hard to fight off the other riders, securing the best time in the Moto2™. Torres’s main rival in the fight for the title, Román Ramos, is in second. Completing the first line of the grid is Ángel Rodríguez who made his best time at the end of the session after suffering mechanical problems in the first session.

Carmelo Morales continues to dominate the Stock Extreme category. The current leader only needs 11 points to mathematically secure the title, but isn’t giving the other riders who are pursuing first place much chance. Second place was obtained by Kyle Smith, who is also second in the championship standings. Adrián Bonastre -winner at the last race fought at Albacete– completes the top 3 in the category.

Ignacio Contreras was the quickest rider in the Kawasaki Ninja Cup, the category that returns this weekend after its absence at the last visit to the La Mancha track. Julio David Palao is in second place, ahead of Miguel Angel Poyatos on the starting grid.
