Barberá’s future lies in CRT or Moto2™

Barberá’s future lies in CRT or Moto2™

Following Ducati’s Junior Team, to be run by Pramac Racing, signing Ben Spies and Andrea Iannone, their current rider Héctor Barberá has been forced to find a new ride for 2013. With many offers already received, the Spaniard will find it hard to decide.

Barberá who is clearly disappointed, told "The announcement of Spies and Iannone leaves me a bit confused and disappointed. In the first year racing with Ducati I was often the fastest, and in the second year, with the same bike from the first year, I went well as well. I never received upgrades and I still managed to be the best Ducati on occasion. The factory is aware of this and yet I find myself out."

Barberá also commented on the future: "It [Ducati] is a brand with great passion, but the disappointment is more personal. I have many options, from CRT to Moto2, and in the coming weeks I will decide which may be the best option for me, and where I can be more competitive."

"In the Future (2014) when the MotoGP grid will be more balanced - that will be me time. When the rider will count more. We already have options in Moto2 with a team to challenge for the championship and in CRT to be the top CRT. In two or three weeks I will decide and close out the end of the season with more confidence."

He did not name the teams involved, but according to Barberá there are at least 3 to 4 per category, and CRT will have priority over Moto2.
