Fenati proves his mettle with Misano podium

Team Italia FMI’s young local talent Romano Fenati once again made the racing world look up, as the 16-year-old recorded his fourth podium of the season in the Moto3™ race in San Marino.

Fenati, who showed at the previous Italian race in Mugello that he thrives off home support, did the same in Misano as he fought his way to the front of the grid in the opening stages. Out front, the Italian rode a mature and controlled race, holding the lead until three laps before the end. Yet with front-tyre performance fading, the pursuing group was able to mount a challenge, leaving Fenati to dice it out with six riders for the podium. It was this brawl in the final few turns that saw him sneak from fifth into third, managing to hold his line to take the final spot on the rostrum in third. This result consolidated his fourth place in the championship table and strengthened his position at the top of the rookie rankings.

Romano Fenati

"I tried to bring home my second victory in the World Championship, but I am equally satisfied the podium, because in the end the tyres were very worn. This result pleases me a lot and I want to dedicate it to my team, Honda, FTR, and everyone that works with me. I would also like to thank all the staff of the Medical Centre at Misano that supported me very well after a bad fall on a Friday. Now we are going to Aragón where I have raced in the Spanish league. I like the track a lot and I know I can do my best to consolidate fourth place in the championship."
