Aragón warm-up sees Espargaró on top

Sunny skies greeted the Moto2™ riders for the warm-up session at the Gran Premio Iveco de Aragón where Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s Pol Espargaró topped the timesheet ahead of Marc Márquez and Nico Terol.

With good track conditions the Spanish rider put in a time of 1.54’390, which was sufficient to hold off Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Márquez, who was just under four tenths off his rival. Mapfre Aspar Team Moto2’s Nico Terol had a good outing at his home track, finishing the morning in third.

Interwetten-Paddock’s Tom Lüthi set the fourth fastest time, ahead of a charging Bradley Smith on his Tech 3 Racing Mistral 610, and front row starter, Speed Master’s Andrea Iannone. Today’s pole-sitter, Came IodaRacing Project’s Simone Corsi, was 21st.

S/Master Speed Up’s Alessandro Andreozzi and Terol’s teammate Jordi Torres were early crashers, as well as SAG Team’s Marco Colandrea. QMMF Racing’s Elena Rosell crashed after she was nudged by Corsi as the pair changed direction. Technomag CIP’s Tomoyoshi Koyama retired half way through the session with a technical issue. None of the crashers were hurt in the incidents.
