Fenati has Rins in sight as Valencia awaits

Team Italia FMI’s Romano Fenati has a five-point deficit to fellow Rookie charger Alex Rins after an immensely close battle at last weekend’s AirAsia Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

On his debut on the island, Fenati did well on the fast and flowing track, controlling his pace early on, and coming back to join the group fighting for third position. After leading it for a couple of laps, he missed the podium and finished in sixth – just over two hundreds behind Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Rins in fourth. Heading into the final round in Valencia, Fenati will need to beat Rins by at least five points to take the “Rookie of the Year” award.

Romano Fenati

"What a fight against Kent, Sissis, Rins and Tonucci. We had fun, being aggressive and fair at the same time. I did all I could. The bike was perfect, and it was fun to ride. Now we head to Valencia, a track where I rode during some tests. I like it, and I want to seize the rookie of the year award."
