Elías to substitute for Barberá once more at Indianapolis

Friday, 10 August 2012

The Pramac Racing Team has confirmed that Toni Elías will replace the still-injured Héctor Barberá at Indianapolis in just over a week’s time, yet has confirmed that its rider will contest the following GP in Brno.

Barberá, who broke his fibula and tibia in a training accident before the Laguna Seca round, has been given the all clear to start active physical therapy, with his team stating he will return to action in just over two weeks in the Czech Republic.

Elías, who does not currently have a confirmed permanent ride, was unlucky to crash out of the Laguna Seca round on lap two, yet hopes to make amends when he lines up at the Brickyard.

Héctor Barberá

"Firstly, I want to thank everybody for all their messages of support since the day of my surgery. The support and love has been overwhelming and it has been a great comfort to me at this difficult time. I'm undergoing rehab on my leg; the situation is improving. It's been three weeks since the operation, and yesterday, Doctor Mir evaluated my physical progress. Now I’m able to give the leg an active workout, in the pool and in the gym, to get ready for the 12th round of this season in Brno. I will have to work as fast as I can, but I hope to be in good shape for the Grand Prix Ceské Republiky."
