Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s Pol Espargaró took a stunning victory in the Moto2™ race at Aragón last weekend to keep his hopes alive of catching leader Marc Márquez.

In a race that went down to the wire for almost every position, Espargaró kept his nerve until the end when he skilfully made his way into the lead, after which he pulled out a small gap in to the final few laps to secure an emphatic victory in front of his home crowd. His third win of the season and ninth podium now means he is 48-points off Márquez, with a total of 100 up for grabs. Despite this being a huge mountain to climb, the unpredictable nature of Moto2™ could mean the Pons rider still stands a chance yet. He is also now 32-points head of third placed Andrea Iannone.

Pol Espargaró

"It was a tough race but fun; and I went well on the attack with three laps to go. At first I struggled a bit and the goal was not to loose touch with the front. Little by little I was pushing and finally I was able to get a win that I owed to all the sponsors and myself. They were sad at the Circuit de Catalunya, but this time I was able to give them great joy. On the last lap I saw that had a bit of an edge and I gave it my all, because under no circumstances did I want the same thing to happen to me again like it did two weeks ago in Misano. The arrival of Tuenti Mobile as sponsor gave me luck and I want to continue like this until the end of the season. I will always give my absolute maximum whilst there is still a 1% chance of being champion."
