Kris McLaren to replace injured Hernandez in Australia

Wednesday, 24 October 2012

The Avintia Blusens team will field local rider Kris McLaren at the AirAsia Australian Grand Prix this weekend as a substitute for the injured Yonny Hernandez.

McLaren has participated in the CEV Buckler Spanish championship this year, finishing second in Jerez, and last year rode in the Grand Prix of Australia as a wildcard in Moto2™. The Australian replaces the injured Yonny Hernandez, who hopes to return for the final race of the season in Valencia on the 11th November.

"I am excited to participate in MotoGP for the first time, and to do so in my country. It's a great opportunity given to me by the Avintia Blusens team and I want to use it well, although I know it will be very difficult to be at the level of such experienced riders. The first objective is to adapt to the bike and progress slowly."
