Pasini suffers retirement at Laguna Seca

Tuesday, 31 July 2012

Speed Master’s Mattia Pasini endured a tough time at his first outing at Laguna Seca in last weekend’s Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, suffering technical issues that forced his to retire early on.

Starting from the sixth row, the Italian moved up a few spots in the initial phases of the race, reaching the top-15 easily. On the twelfth lap, Pasini encountered a technical issue and was forced to go return to the pits and retire. This was the Italian’s fourth DNF of the season. Pasini leaves the circuit of Laguna Seca with a total of thirteen points in the Championship Rankings, in fifteenth position.

Mattia Pasini

"It’s a shame that we couldn’t finish this race. We started off pretty well, we moved up quite a few positions and we had a good pace. There was a chance to stay with Hernandez and De Puniet, and then attack and try to improve in the last part of the race, but on the twelfth lap a technical problem forced us to retire. We could have left Laguna Seca with a few points that would have helped in the classification, but now we can only look towards Indianapolis, where we’ll do our best to make up points."
