Remembering the 125 class: 2011
motogp.com recalls the most memorable and exciting races of the last 20 years in the historical 125cc category.
The twentieth and final installment of this special section that commemorates the 125 category looks at the season that caps the 62 year run of the smallest class. 2011 produced an unexpected development after the start of the season was marked by Nico Terol’s overwhelming dominance. Johann Zarco stepped up to take the Championship fight down to the final round in Valencia, but in the final race, the Spaniard secured the crown with a second place finish.
A truly memorable victory by Maverick Viñales at Sepang is the race we review for the final installment of the series. The surprising rookie emerged triumphant after a thrilling duel with Terol, whose risks in the final laps displayed his determination.
With this final video, motogp.com bids farewell to the oldest category in the World Championship and welcomes in the new Moto3 class.
