The owner of Pons 40 HP Tuenti team looks optimistically toward the 2012 season following the second test Moto2™ held last week in Jerez.

The three Pons 40 HP Tuenti riders closed the second Moto2™ test of 2012 happy with the progress made working on developing their 2012 Pons Kalex bike. Pol Espargaró, Tito Rabat and Axel Pons will now concentrate on physical training off the bike before returning to Jerez for the last three days of pre-season ahead of the first Moto2 race of the year in Qatar, set for the 8th of April.

At the close of the text, Sito Pons, Team Manager, reflected: "The pre-season has been quite productive for the team, with Pol and Tito always in the top five and showing the enormous potential of the Pons Kalex bike and the whole team. The Moto2 World Championship promises to be exciting and I’m convinced that we’ll be one of the major players."

Pol Espargaró analyzed his performance on the Andalusian track, saying "The bike felt better after a complicated day yesterday (Friday), and today I was pretty fast from the first few laps. I lowered my times by half a second and was able to lap consistently in the 1’42s."

"I had a couple of minor crashes, one in the first corner and the other in the last corner, but that’s not unusual when you are looking for the limits of a new motorcycle. A year ago, at my first test on a four stroke Moto2, I didn’t go below a 1’45, and twelve months later it seems incredible that I did a 1’42.4. I think that we are on the right path, I have a lot of confidence in Santi Mulero and the whole team who are helping me so much with making progress every time I go out on the bike."

Very satisfied to have wrapped up the test with lap times in the 1’42s (1’42.8), Tito Rabat said, "I’ve been getting more confident on the bike and working on tuning the set-up, but until now we couldn’t get the front end of the motorcycle to feel stable in the fast corners. We eventually found the solution and I’ll confirm in the next round of official test."

Axel Pons set his best lap of 1’43.5 after initial difficulty in finding a satisfactory set-up. "I managed to lap in the 1’43s and I’m happy with this after the tuning difficulties we had. In the end, I think we are on the right track. We’ll see at the end of March when we return to Jerez, where I won’t have to focus so much on the bike and I work on my riding and finding some tenths. Little by little I am catching up to my teammates who are now a step ahead of me, but their progression can help me."
