Fifth for Spies in Aragón GP

Sunday, 30 September 2012

Yamaha Factory Racing’s Ben Spies was involved in a thrilling battle with his satellite counterparts at today’s MotoGP™ race in Aragón.

The American rider was quick out of the blocks, sticking to the back of Repsol Hondas Dani Pedrosa in the opening laps. He soon encountered some grip issues with his tyres and tried to fend off the advances from Monster Yamaha Tech 3 duo of Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso. In the end he couldn’t stop them passing, and crossed the line in fifth.

Ben Spies

"I struggled a bit with the front tyre today at the beginning and then in the middle of the race. I tried to keep Dovi and Cal at bay as long as I could. Once they passed me I tried to hold onto the back of them in case they made a mistake. The bike was working well we just didn’t have it working as exactly as we needed to stay with them. We did our best they were just too quick in the end."
