Moto2™ is powered bySunday, 3 June 2012
A cooler track and cloudy conditions greeted the Moto2™ field for the morning warm-up before the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya, where Tom Lüthi set the fastest time ahead of pole-sitter Marc Márquez.
Interwetten-Paddock’s Lüthi was making the most of the cooler conditions by going just marginally quicker than Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Márquez. Also within the same hundredth of the pair was Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s Pol Espargaró, setting the tone for what should be an exiting race this afternoon.
QMMF Racing Team’s Elena Rosell crashed out at turn 10, while Mapfre Aspar Team’s Nico Terol retired with a bike issues. Rosell was uninjured in the crash. On his final hot-lap, JiR Moto2’s Frenchman Johann Zarco ran wide into the gravel, but managed to stay on the bike.
