Victories for Márquez, Torres, Morales and Martínez at the Inaugural Race of Navarra

Sunday, 22 April 2012

The debut CEV Buckler race at Navarra circuit saw a day packed with exciting racing. In front of over 10.000 attending racing fans and followed by thousands of others, on live TV and the internet, the competition level showed why the CEV Buckler Championship is marked as one of the best international competitions recognized worldwide.

Álex Márquez proved, at the Navarran circuit, that he will be a force to contend with this year as he won the Moto3™ with great authority. Márquez pulled out the stops to improve his position after his result in Jerez. Joining Márquez on the podium, after a great battle between five riders for second and third, were riders Italian Francesco Bagnaia and Briton John McPhee.

Moto2™ consolidated its position as one of the most unpredictable categories of the CEV Buckler. Alejandro Mariñelarena, who had led for most of the race was unable to fight off Jordi Torres, who has passed him, on the last lap, to score victory. American Kenny Noyes takes, his second, third on the podium after beating Román Ramos at the finishing line. Colombian Santiago Hernández was the best privateer rider in the class.

Historically the Stock Extreme class has been, without doubt, one of the most exciting 1000 cc motorcycle categories in recent years. Four riders fought for victory, with the victory finally falling into the hands of Carmelo Morales. The Spanish rider stole the win from second place Xavi Forés in the final turn. Santiago Barragán completed the podium with best privateer awarded to Argentinian Solorza.

The Kawasaki Ninja Cup closed the day’s racing at the Los Arcos circuit in Navarra with victory going to the talented rider, Galician, Hugo Martínez who started from pole for the race. Julio Palao and Miguel Poyatos completed the podium to end another round of the CEV Buckler series.

The CEV Buckler will return to action on the weekend of 26 and 27 May at the circuit of MotorLand in Aragón.
