Terol and Elías satisfied with Jerez pace
Moto2™ is powered byThe Mapfre Aspar riders posted the same time during the final session of the Official three-day Test held in the Jerez circuit and are eagerly awaiting the next Test in March.
Nico Terol and Toni Elías completed the Jerez test satisfied with the accomplishments made during the three days at the Andalusian circuit. Both riders hit the asphalt early on the final day, focusing their efforts on developing the set-up of their respective mounts. Terol tried to gain more grip from the rear and to eliminate some chatter in the front. Elías worked to get the suspension and chassis more stable through the fast corners. The pair finished the day both signing the same best time of 1’43.60, and reported feeling content with their performance after lapping in the 1.43s for most of the day. The Mapfre Aspar Team duo completed no less than 394 laps between them (Toni 226 and Nico 168) during the three day test.
Nico Terol 1’43.60 (62 laps):
"I am really pleased with the results of this final day in Jerez. Physically, I'm feeling better with the Moto2 and I can do more laps. The last session of the day I was able to consistently lap in the 1.43s, but then we ran into some chatter in the front. This is when I can see my lack of experience in the category because I tried to resolve it a little too quickly. My mechanics did a great job and we went ahead without difficulties. I can say this test has been really positive because our times are already quite fast and we also improved every day. The pace has been perfect during these three days, I think this is the key to more progress."
Toni Elías 1’43.60 (71 laps):
"I'm leaving Jerez happy because clearly made progress. We advanced quickly and every time we get closer to the time at the front. Today for the first time we did a 1’43, and considering the last time we were here I could barely get below a 1’45, this is a good result. I'm happy because the bike works better and better and I'm gradually getting used to it. Of course we still have room for improvement, but we worked really hard during the three days, and thanks to that we collected a lot of information to analyze during the break until the next test. I’m also pleased with the team, we have an uncomplicated working relationship, I think we’re doing work that is on the right track."
