Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Marc Márquez and Interwetten-Paddock’s Tom Lüthi are currently at the Portimão track in Portugal at a private Suter test in preparation for the second half of the season.

The Spanish rider had been testing since yesterday, whilst the Swiss rider only joined up today for the test scheduled until Wednesday. Both riders will be seeking to improve their bikes before they head to the Moto2™ race in Indianapolis on the 19th August, as both Moto2™ and Moto3™ do not contest the next MotoGP™ round in Laguna Seca this weekend.

All testing will be based around the chassis, as the race engine was sealed just before the Mugello race, and is set to last until after Brno. This means the riders will be using a standard Honda CBR600 engine with similar horsepower to gauge if their upgrades are successful.

After his first outing on Monday, Márquez stated via his Facebook page: “We completed the first day of testing at Portimão after many hours out on track. It was both fun and interesting riding at this circuit for the first time, and it’s great for training.”
