Espargaró leads San Marino morning warm-up
Moto2™ is powered byIt was Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s Pol Espargaró who set the pace ahead of the Gran Premio Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera de Rimini in Misano during warm-up ahead of Tom Lüthi and Scott Redding.
A time of 1.38’654 set in sunny conditions was sufficient to hold off the charge from Interwetten-Paddock’s Lüthi, who looked on blistering pace behind the Spaniard. Marc VDS Racing Team’s Redding was just over two tenths off in third, while this afternoon’s pole-sitter, Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Marc Márquez ended the session in sixth.
With six minutes to go the session was red flagged for a period after Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2’s Ratthapark Wilairot crashed heavily in turn 15. He received immediate medical treatment and was taken to the Clinica Mobile. He was cleared of any spinal injury, yet is undergoing checks for a possible leg fracture. After the session re-started, Speed Master’s Andrea Iannone took a spill as he lost the front of his machine. He was able to re-mount and end the session.
