Iveco TT Assen final free practice headed by Espargaró
Moto2™ is powered byPons 40 HP Tuenti’s Pol Espargaró set the fastest time ahead of Simone Corsi and Scott Redding in the final free practice session of the Iveco TT Assen.
After rain had threatened in the MotoGP™ session before, the Moto2™ grid was spared, and could run the entire session in the dry. And it was Espargaró who continued his blistering form to post the fastest time of all the preceding sessions with a 1.37’910.
Surprise inclusion in the top three was Came IodaRacing Projects Corsi on board his FTR machine, who is continuing to improve at every round. He ousted Marc VDS Racing Team’s Scott Redding into third, with the Brit skilfully saving a near crash towards the end of the practice.
Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Marc Márquez recovered from a crash at turn 1 early in the session, to post the fourth quickest time, yet was still over sixth tenths down on his Spanish rival. Interwetten-Paddock’s Tom Lüthi was narrowly behind in fifth, ousting Speed Master’s Andrea Iannone into sixth. Iannone was the only rider in the top ten to not improve on his best time from yesterday.
Tech 3 Racing’s Bradley Smith, who showed promise at the last race in Silverstone, posted the seventh quickest time of the day, ahead of NGM Mobile Forward Racing’s Alex de Angelis and Italtrans Racing Team’s Claudio Corti. Redding’s teammate Mika Kallio completed the top ten.
In addition to Márquez’s crash, QMMF Racing Team’s Elena Rosell lost the front of her bike with ten minutes left, and JiR Moto2’s Johann Zarco highsided his bike on his final hot-lap. Both riders walked away unscathed.
