Spanish rivals Pol Espargaró narrowly ousted today’s pole-sitter Marc Márquez into second place in the morning warm-up for the Iveco TT Assen, with Tom Lüthi coming in third.

The session was hotly contested until the end, yet it was Pons 40 HP Tuenti’s Espargaró who came out on top with a time of 1.37’945, with Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s Márquez less than a tenth behind. The Spanish pair dominated, as the next placed Lüthi, on board his Interwetten-Paddock machine, was over seven tenths behind the duo.

Came IodaRacing Project’s Simone Corsi continued his good run of form finishing fourth, with Tech 3 Racing’s Bradley Smith making an appearance high up the timesheet in fifth. Other front row qualifier, Speed Master’s Andrea Iannone, could only manage eighth in the morning session.
