New chassis and fairing for Aspar duo at Mugello

Tuesday, 17 July 2012

Power Electronics Aspar’s Randy de Puniet undertook a test on a new fairing and Aleix Espargaró on a new frame, as the team took to the Mugello track for the one-day test yesterday.

As well as the new fairing, De Puniet also evaluated some new electronics, and finished the day suitably satisfied and looking forward to the next race in Laguna Seca. On the other side of the garage Espargaró tested a new chassis that allowed a greater offset at the front. After 47 laps, the Catalan was more than satisfied with the new material and hopes to continue his top CRT charge in Laguna Seca.

Aleix Espargaró

"In the morning we tried a new chassis, which has given us more possibilities when setting up the bike. At the end of the day we managed to ride even faster than in the race yesterday. What we wanted was to have more options with the front, and I think we succeeded, because my feeling on corner entry has improved. In Laguna Seca we’ll continue testing this new chassis. It’s a completely different track to Mugello, so we will see how well it works there.”

Randy de Puniet

"We started the day trying out new electronic configurations that we do not normally use, and it went well. I believe we have found several solutions that can be very positive for Laguna Seca, a circuit that has some slow corners. When we get we’ll look to confirm what we discovered here in Mugello. Then I tried the new chassis, but my feeling was not as good as with the chassis that we have been using. The times were slow, but we do not care at all, as we were here to try everything we could, without looking at the records."
