Khairuddin sets the pace in Saturday morning practice

The second day of action at the Gran Premio Iveco de Aragón commenced with AirAsia-Sic-Ajo’s Zulfahmi Khairuddin setting the fastest time in Moto3™ FP3 on a wet track, with Briton Danny Kent and Spaniard Alex Rins just behind the Malaysian rider on the timesheets.

Khairuddin’s best time of 2:13.035 on his penultimate lap was enough to put his name at the head of the timing screens, just 0.046s faster than Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Kent and 0.3s quicker than Estrella Galicia 0'0 rider Rins, who was one of several riders to suffer a crash in a treacherous session.

German pair Sandro Cortese (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Jonas Folger (Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3) both also featured towards the top of the timesheet, Folger leading the way briefly before settling into fifth position, behind his fourth placed compatriot.

The top ten was completed by Miguel Oliveira (Estrella Galicia 0'0), Brad Binder (RW Racing GP), Niklas Ajo (TT Motion Events Racing), Alex Márquez (Ambrogio Next Racing) and Jakub Kornfeil (Redox-Ongetta-Centro Seta).

The conditions were tricky for the Moto3™ riders, resulting in numerous spills and run-offs including crashes for yesterday’s top man Oliveira, in addition to Luis Salom, Jasper Iwema, Luigi Morciano, Adrián Martín, Jack Miller and Isaac Viñales.
