Technomag-carXpert presents 2013 line-up in Switzerland

It was an all-Swiss affair as Technomag-carXpert put forward its 2013 Moto2™ line-up at the Geneva Motorshow on Thursday. Racing for the squad this season will be Randy Krummenacher and Dominique Aegerter.

Headed up by Frédéric Corminboeuf, the new setup has been established from scratch over the winter. The outfit will be competing with a Suter MMX2 machine. To aid its testing plans, the team has been located at one of France’s best-known race circuits

“We are privileged from a practical point of view, as we are based on the site of Paul Ricard in Le Castellet - it’s ideal for us,” Corminboeuf explains.

Supported by Swiss Automotive Group AG, the squad has looked to take full advantage of its situation during the break between seasons.  “We have established a major testing programme,” the team manager continues. “That was one of our priorities to help Dominique quickly pick up the excellent feeling he had for a bike last year, when he finished eighth in the championship. It also allows Randy to have as much time on the bike as possible to be able to learn how things are and get more accustomed to his new team and environment.”

Both objectives appear to have been achieved. Twelve months ago, Aegerter was forced to wait until the last day of winter testing to finish 15th overall on the timesheets, whereas this year number 77 has enjoyed regular top ten placings. With this in mind, the Berne rider now hopes to move up a gear in 2013. “My goal is to finish in the top five of the World Championship, with the highest number of podiums we can possibly achieve,” he says.

Although Krummenacher may have been unable to match his team-mate’s speed thus far, the team newcomer also remains confident. “Everything is new for me,” he begins. “The team, the bike and the mentality; but I can assure you that I do not regret my choice for a single second.”

Prior to the start of the 2012 campaign - under lights in Qatar on 7 April - the outfit will run in the final official Moto2™ test of the pre-season period, which is to be staged at Jerez from 18 to 21 March. The gathering will mark the first of the year at which all teams will be using identical engines - provided by the championship organisers - and should therefore allow for more accurate indicators with regards to who is on the pace. “En route to Jerez, we’ll stop off at the Alcarrás circuit (close to the Spanish city of Lleida) for an additional test session,” Corminboeuf reveals.
