Iannone sums up ‘very good’ final test

Andrea Iannone has been buoyed by the progress made at the final pre-season test session in Jerez. For 2013, the Italian steps up from Moto2™ to MotoGP™.

Iannone has been knocking on the door of the premier class for some time, having finished third overall in Moto2 for the past three seasons. Since the start of 2010 the now 23-year-old has achieved a total of eight Moto2 wins plus another 11 podiums.

“I’m very happy because I’m fast,” the Pramac Racing Team rider told as a pre-season summary. “On the first day, in the rain, I had a very good feeling with my bike. It was the same on the second day and I pushed very hard, but we had a bit of a problem on the last day – because I crashed and the bike was destroyed.

“Overall it has been very good because I’ve finished this test as the first (Pramac) Ducati. That is very important for because I want to progress step-by-step; that’s my focus, so I’m happy.”

This year, Iannone teams up with Ben Spies, with the American making the switch to Pramac following a particularly frustrating Yamaha campaign in 2012.
