Abraham left confused by first-lap crash

Karel Abraham’s induction to the CRT class proved to be a short one on Sunday, as the Czech rider retired from the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar on Lap 1.

For 2013, Abraham and his family-run Cardion AB Motoracing squad have switched to a CRT bike from a prototype. Having qualified 18th at the Losail International Circuit, he soon became the first race retirement of the 2013 MotoGP™ season.

“I’m really not very happy at all,” he said in the paddock. “I made a very good start. I was right behind Randy (de Puniet, Power Electronics Aspar) and entered a corner as usual, but when I put the power on I lost the front. It happened very fast and I don’t understand how. It just happened really fast and I couldn´t do anything to save it.”

The CRT class was headed up on Sunday night by reigning champion Aleix Espargaró, who rode his Aspar machine from 12th on the grid to 11th in the race.
