Terol dedicates victory to team and family

Sunday in Texas saw Nico Terol celebrating his maiden victory in the Moto2™ class. The Spaniard last won a race when he took the chequered flag at MotorLand Aragón during his title-winning 125 season of 2011. He has dedicated the victory to those closest to him.

Having confirmed his competitive pace by going fastest in the pre-race Warm-Up session, Terol avoid drama at the uphill first corner of Circuit of the Americas. As Marc VDS Racing Team’s Scott Redding – who had started from pole – began to suffer for grip, the Mapfre Aspar Team Moto2 rider seized the advantage and stretched out a healthy lead.

“This is an incredible moment for me,” Terol told “My first victory in Moto2™ is a dream come true. Today’s race was very difficult for me because the tyres were finished after three or five laps. From that moment it was just high concentration, lap by lap.

“This victory is for my team, all of the sponsors and my family. It’s perfect: a good moment for me, a good feeling with the bike and incredible for the whole team and me. The next race will be at home, but the objective is just to go race by race and that way it might be possible to have another good day.”

The championship resumes in Jerez, Spain in two weekends’ time.
