Bautista uncomfortable over lack of grip

Alvaro Bautista was less than pleased following the opening day of practice for the Gran Premio bwin de España in Jerez. The GO&FUN Honda Gresini rider suffered a distinct lack of rear grip and is now on the lookout for a solution.

Despite ending the day sixth quickest, Bautista was quick to point out the lack of feeling he experienced with the Honda.

“This morning I felt a lot of problems with the rear grip,” he told motogp.com in a video interview. “We tried to resolve it for the afternoon, but it wasn’t possible; we tried different solutions but I still had a lot of problems. I wasn’t able to open the gas exiting the corners and was losing a lot.

“We have to study the data to try to find a solution for tomorrow, because I can’t ride it in this way. I’m risking it with every corner exit. I have no grip, the bike is sliding a lot and I don’t feel comfortable riding it.”

Jerez marks the first of four home races in Spain for Bautista this year, ahead of those in Barcelona, Aragon and Valencia.
