Front end problems hold Bradl back

Front end problems hold Bradl back

Stefan Bradl experienced a somewhat non-stop day in Jerez on Saturday, eventually qualifying eighth but having to progress from the Q1 qualifying session.

Having been outside the overall top ten from across the first three practice sessions, it looked as though the LCR Honda MotoGP rider would fail to make it through to Q2 and therefore start 13th on the grid for the Gran Premio bwin de España.

However, he pushed through with a last-gasp final lap which featured a particular quick final sector. In the shootout, the German would qualify eighth on the grid. After the session, Bradl explained that a lack of front end grip was the issue.

“Well, ‘happy’ is not the right word,” he told in a video interview. “It was really exciting to get into Q2, but we cannot be happy with our pace this weekend. We have a lot of problems with our front and we cannot push as I would like to. In the end it was not so bad, but we are far away from our pace.”

The 2011 Moto2™ World Champion shares the third row of Sunday’s grid with Ducati Team pairing Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso, with the American and Italian starting seven seventh and ninth respectively.
