Livio Suppo: "Pedrosa can be unbeatable"

Livio Suppo: 'Pedrosa can be unbeatable'

Repsol Honda Team have enjoyed a strong start to the 2013 MotoGP™ campaign, with both Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa having celebrated race wins. caught up with Team Principal Livio Suppo, who discusses Marquez’s impressive induction to the premier class and the return of Pedrosa’s strong form.

Marquez out-raced his teammate in both Qatar and Texas and is yet to finish off the rostrum since stepping up to the top tier of the World Championship. However Suppo is coy when it comes to answering questions about title aspirations.

“Honestly, right at this moment we don’t really want to think about that,” Suppo replies when asked if Marquez could win this year’s title. “He is a rookie and he needs to learn.

“It is true that he has made a wonderful debut, he is leading the championship and he has finished on the podium three races in a row, so we cannot ask for more. On the other hand, we need to keep the same approach because we know that he could always have a bad weekend, with many some setup problems or whatever, so at the end of the day nothing has changed. The important thing is that we have two riders who are very happy with the machine and that the team is working very well.”

Pedrosa struggled with his bike in the Losail season-opener. Despite still being unable to beat Marquez in Austin, he returned to winning ways in Jerez on Sunday and Suppo believes this could be the start of another ultra-strong run for the elder rider.

“If you remember, after Austin he said he was very happy not only with his second position but mainly because he had regained the feeling he had (with the bike) from the middle to the end of the season last year,” Suppo continues of Pedrosa.

“This win has really confirmed that. We know that, when Dani is okay and the bike suits his style, he can be unbeatable. Let’s hope he can keep this momentum and we look forward to a very exciting season.”
