Motoworld: ‘Suzuki wants Crutchlow and Espargaro’

Cal Crutchlow is Suzuki’s first choice of rider ahead of a MotoGP™ return in 2014. That is according to Spanish sports website Motoworld, which also names Aleix Espargaro as a favoured candidate to race alongside the Englishman.

Over recent months Suzuki has conducted a number of test sessions with a MotoGP machine, most recently with Nobuatsu Aoki at the helm. According to the Motoworld article Davide Brivio, former Team Manager to Valentino Rossi, is also involved in the project and sees Crutchlow and Espargaro as ideal choices.

Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Crutchlow has raced in the World Championship since 2011 and last year became the first Briton to clinch a podium finish in the premier class since Jeremy McWilliams did so some 12 years earlier. Racing for Power Electronics Aspar, Espargaro was the highest-placed CRT runner of 2012 and has led the way in all 2013 races so far.

Later this month, Espargaro’s current teammate Randy de Puniet is set to test for Suzuki in Japan.
