Edwards and Corti upbeat about new parts

Colin Edwards and Claudio Corti will run several new components on their FTR-Kawasaki bikes ahead of this weekend’s Monster Energy Grand Prix de France, having tested at Jerez following the Spanish race of two weekends ago.

The NGM Mobile Forward Racing duo has experienced a generally frustrating start to the 2012 season, although both remain upbeat that improvements are imminent.

“Looking forward to Le Mans,” Edwards begins. “I can’t say Jerez was perfect but we at least got on the score board and we’re looking to building on that momentum. We have a few new things that we want to try with FTR. Le Mans is a track that, for some reason, I have always gone good at so let’s get rolling!”

Having been the sole Forward representative last season, American Edwards has been joined full-time this year by Italy’s Claudio Corti.

“During the two-day test we found a few things that work well, allowing us to have a faster pace and allowing me to ride the bike a little better,” Corti says. “Le Mans is a track at which I was able to come in second last year (with Italtrans Racing Team in the Moto2™ class) in the rain, so I have good memories there.

“It’s probably not one of my favourite tracks but I enjoy riding there as well as the warmth of the French fans. I look forward to being out on-track there.”

Corti holds a 100% finishing record so far this season, whereas Edwards did not see the chequered flag until the third round in Jerez; however this did bring his and the team’s first point of the campaign with their CRT bike, finishing in 15th position.
