Oliveira achieves first Mahindra Racing front row

Mahindra Racing were delighted with their qualifying result in Le Mans on Saturday as Portugal’s Miguel Oliveira cemented the first front row slot for the Indian company.

Oliveira will start from second on the grid for the Moto3™ Monster Energy Grand Prix de France, having missed out on pole position to Team Calvo’s Maverick Viñales by just one tenth of a second.

“I was having trouble with the front feel and turning, so we changed the steering and fork settings for today and it went in a good direction,” Oliveira commented. “In the end I was able to do a great lap for qualifying.

“I’m really happy with the front row. It means that tomorrow I don’t have to recover positions. I can concentrate on the fast group from the start.”

Teammate Efren Vazquez was less unfortunate, having fractured his right clavicle when he crashed at Garage Vert corner on Friday. The Spaniard has since visited the Hospital Universitari Quirón Dexeus in Barcelona in order to undergo surgery.
