Isaac Viñales sets the pace on Friday afternoon

Isaac Viñales was quickest as Moto3™ practice continued in Barcelona on Friday afternoon. The Ongetta-Centro Seta rider led Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Alex Marquez and championship-leading younger cousin Maverick of Team Calvo.

Separated by just one hundredth of a second, the elder Viñales and Marquez – brother of MotoGP™ front-runner Marc – looked competitive at their home circuit, as Spanish riders filled the top six places. Behind fourth-placed Alex Rins (Estrella Galicia 0,0), Luis Salom (Red Bull KTM Ajo) finished fifth although his 1'52.054 lap time from the morning remains the quickest of the day.

There were falls for Francesco Bagnaia (San Carlo Team Italia) and Lorenzo Baldassarri (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3), but worse news for Mugello pole-sitter Jonas Folger; having injured his right wrist in a motocross accident on Wednesday of last week, the German Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3 rider – who finished 33rd in first practice this morning - is sitting out for the remainder of the weekend.

Following a crash in which he bruised both of his feet, Avant Tecno’s Niklas Ajo was taken to the Medical Centre but declared fit to continue competing on Saturday.

Third and final Moto3™ practice begins on Saturday at 9am local time (GMT +2), taking place ahead of the grid deciding qualifying session later in the afternoon.
