Successful surgery for Nakagami

Moto2™ rider Takaaki Nakagami has undergone a successful operation for a broken left collarbone following a crash in Saturday’s Warm-Up session at Assen.

The Italtrans Racing Team rider lost control and collected the barriers en route to Assen’s chicane and was thus unable to take part in the race. He hence flew directly from The Netherlands to Italy, where he was operated on in Brescia.

Carried out by Professor Fabio Terragnoli, the surgery involved the fitting of a five-centimetre plate which was fixed in place with four screws in order to begin repairing the fractured bone.

In several days’ time, the 23-year-old from Chiba will be able to start rehabilitation and is aiming to be back in action at the Sachsenring next weekend.
