Espargaro quickest in first Sachsenring practice

Pol Espargaro topped the timesheets as Moto2™ action began in Germany on Friday morning. The Tuenti HP 40 rider led championship leader Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) and Jordi Torres (Aspar Team Moto2).

Espargaro set the pace with his best effort of 1’25.534. This was just 95 thousandths of a second up on title rival Redding, with Torres only a further four thousandths in arrears. Less than two tenths of a second covered the top six, the second half of which was filled by Tom Luthi (Interwetten Paddock Moto2 Racing), Simone Corsi (NGM Mobile Racing) and Julian Simon (Italtrans Racing Team).

An eventful morning across the three classes ended with more falls, this time for Mike di Meglio (JiR Moto2), Tito Rabat (Tuenti HP 40) and Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2). All riders walked away from their incidents.

Moto2™ action continues with Free Practice 2 from 3:05pm local time (GMT +2).
