Salom on top in final Sachsenring practice

Luis Salom has led the final Moto3™ practice session ahead of Qualifying for the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. The Red Bull KTM Ajo man was the only runner to dip underneath Alex Rins’ best time from Friday, while the Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider was second from home favourite Jonas Folger of Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3.

On a slightly cooler morning at the Sachsenring, numerous changes came at the sharp end of the timesheets over the course of the final ten minutes. Salom moved ahead in the last knockings, demoting Rins and Folger as well as Red Bull KTM Ajo teammate Arthur Sissis who had also led the session. South Africa’s Brad Binder completed the top five for Ambrogio Racing, while teammate Danny Webb is missing this race through injury and is being covered for by Frenchman Jules Danilo.

With 22 laps to his name, Binder racked up more tours than most but shared this number with San Carlo Team Italia’s Romano Fenati; incidentally, when the Italian ran wide coming onto the main straight in the opening minutes, he was followed by Folger’s teammate Eric Granado who was fortunate to escape from a massive moment. The Brazilian would later take a trip through the gravel.

Moto3™ Qualifying will start at 12:35pm local time (GMT +2).
