Bradl thanks fans after leading home race

Stefan Bradl quickly expressed gratitude towards the fans after leading his home Grand Prix in Germany on Sunday. The LCR Honda MotoGP rider would eventually miss out on the podium, though, finishing in fourth position.

When Bradl overtook nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi in the early stages of the race, the moment was greeted by great cheers from the crowd at Turn 12.

“I think it was a good weekend for us, even if we missed the chance to achieve the podium,” he said afterwards. “Actually I had a good start and I was capable of leading the race for some laps but, when the guys passed me, I could see that they had more corner speed - especially in section two which was the weak point for us.

“We have been very competitive and very fast in the remaining sections, so we are pretty satisfied about our job. Okay… I missed the chance to reward my team and my crowd with a podium finish, but we do not give up and we will keep on fighting in Laguna. I especially want to thank my fans… I could feel their great support these days and it was something special to me.”

Having failed to score in two of the opening three races this year, Bradl’s latest run of consistency leaves him seventh in the standings and ten points in arrears of Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso.
