Pole-sitter Bradl tops morning Warm-Up

Pole-sitter Bradl tops morning Warm-Up

Stefan Bradl, prior to starting on his maiden pole position in the MotoGP™ class, has topped Sunday’s Warm-Up session at Laguna Seca. The LCR Honda MotoGP rider led fellow front row starter Marc Marquez, while Alvaro Bautista crashed at Turn 5.

On Saturday, Bradl became the first ever German pole position winner in the premier class with a lap time of 1’21.176. This morning, the leading pace came in the form of 1’21.743 which edged out Marquez by just eight thousandths of a second. Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo was third while nursing his still injured left collarbone, while Repsol Honda Team rider and Marquez’s teammate Dani Pedrosa – also with an injured left collarbone – calmly rode his way to 11th spot.

The top five was rounded out by Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi, just behind Bautista who will start on the front row later today. However it was not a trouble-free session for the GO&FUN Honda Gresini rider, who lowsided at Turn 5. The Spaniard was not injured while his bike contacted lightly with the outside air fence. The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will take place over 32 laps. All of the action can be followed live on, with the race beginning at 2pm local time (GMT -7).
